Two Line Traction Kites

Flexifoil Power kites

are a simple design that's fun to fly. Basically they're an aerofoil, like an aircraft wing, with a carbon spar at the leading edge for support. They come in sizes from 4 feet (it sounds better than 1.22metres ) up to 10 feet, and you can stack them easily to increase the pulling power. This makes them very versatile, for  skiing and being dragged face down along the beach. The 6 footer is a good size to start with as you can stack them with 8 and 10 footers, as long as you put the biggest at the top. Short stacking lines are available.
Precision-made from high performance fabric and glass fibre and carbon fibre components, Flexifoil power kites work like an aeroplane wing. The unique aerofoil design is inflated by the wind through the gauze vent at the front. Underneath this vent is a multi-tapered spar. The patented design of this aerofoil transfers all the lift and power to this spar in the leading edge. The flying lines are simply looped on the spar ends and there are no complicated bridles to adjust.

Stacker 6

Flexifoil recommends this 6 footer as the starter kite if you want to get into power kites. It has achieved speeds of over 180kph (110 mph ) and has a listing in the Guinness Book of Records. Priced at £69.95 without lines, or £89.90 with 70kg, 40m Dyneema lines with lightweight strap handles and a winder

Pro Team 8

Even though it's only 2 feet bigger than the Stacker, it develops approximately twice the pull. Don't fly this in sticky mud, because if you can't move quickly it might pull your arms off. Price is £99.95 without lines, or £123.90 with 90kg, 40m Dyneema lines, on a winder. You'll also need a pair of heavy duty padded wrist straps which cost an extra £9.95.

Super 10

This one has a ten foot wingspan, and with it's high aspect ratio, develops three times the power of the 6 foot Stacker. (!) Despite it's power, it's still easy to fly. Loads of laughs moonwalking, buggying and watching your kids disappear Mary Poppins style with the Super 10. The price is £129.95 without lines, or £157.90 with 135kg, 40m Dyneema lines, on a winder. You'll also need a pair of heavy duty padded wrist straps which cost an extra £9.95.
