4 Line Kites

4 line kites are more controllable than 2 line kites, because the other two lines are brake lines. These go to the trailing edge of the kite, and the kite can be turned either by applying pressure to these lines, or by pulling on the whole control handle as you do with a 2 line kite. The brake handles allow more finesse to get the kite accurately into the wind's power band.

Skytiger

The Skytiger is designed primarily as a traction kite for buggies, but is still fun if you don't have one. They come in sizes 10 sizes from 1.6m2 up to 9.3m2, to give a full range for different wind speeds and experience levels. The range includes some higher aspect ratio kites, called the Hi range. Constructed from a lightweight 'Chikara' ripstop nylon fabric, all Skytigers come with a carry bag and quad handles but lines come separately, depending on use.

Blade

The Blade is a new design for maximum power, maneuverability and efficiency. It's elliptical shape means it turns on the proverbial 5p piece, so you can get the kite accurately into the wind window. The blade is made from Chikara ripstop nylon for lightness, and has a mesh leading edge to keep the seagulls out. The Blade is recommended for intermediate to expert pilots, so new 4 line flyers might be better with the Skytiger. It can also be flown with 2 lines which gives it even more versatility. The Blade comes with it's own branded rucksack (very smart), and quad handles, but you'll need to get a separate line set.

Edel Kites

The world's largest paraglider manufacturer, Edel also make a range of 4 line kites. The Parastunt is the smallest with an area of 1.35 m2 and a span of 215cm; comes complete with a carry bag, lines and padded handles. They're ready to fly straight out of the bag, and are excellent value at £89.95. They come in fit-inducing colours, and they're popular with paraglider pilots because they are small and light, and good fun if it's too windy to fly. The Edel range also includes a 3.1 m2 parafoil, complete with lines and priced at £239.95. The monster of the range is a 4.8 m2 parafoil, priced at £299.95, again, complete with lines. These last two are usable for traction, with the added advantage of being nippy performers because of their elliptical shape.
